Citibus is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Safety Manager position who is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, evaluation and implementation of all safety policies, procedures and programs for Citibus that meet local, state, and federal requirements. The Safety Manager will identify, assess, and prioritize safety risks, and conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with standards, risk mitigations, and capitalize on opportunities for improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs all assigned job duties to the best of his/her abilities while adhering to Citibus policies, procedures, practices and workplace expectations.
2. Ensures all activities within assigned areas of responsibility are conducted in a manner that values diversity in the workplace while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local EEO laws and related requirements.
3. Plans, manages and coordinates the activities and functions of the Safety department to ensure conformance with agency policies, procedures and practices while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety related laws and regulations.
4. Develops and implements proactive strategies, practices and resource allocation methodologies to ensure safety and security of the Citibus workforce and the general public as they interact with the transit system, using a Safety Management Systems approach.
5. Designs and implements change management strategies to engage employees at all levels of the organization to develop and maintain a “safety first” culture.
6. Ensures that safety systems and security practices and protocols are in compliance with federal, state and local laws, including but not limited to the requirements of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and all other applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
7. Directs the development, administration, implementation, and integration of system-wide safety, security and training plans, procedures and practices.
8. Ensures safety alignment, support and continuous improvement between departments within Citibus.
9. Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating safety and security related plans, risk assessments and loss prevention programs.
10. Provides technical advice and guidance on safety and injury claims and their related issues and activities. Evaluate potential hazards and assess the need for mitigation.
11. Maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to area of assignment. Incorporate new developments as appropriate and ensure processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively.
12. Ensures that safety training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
13. Organizes and leads the Site Safety Council through hazard assessment and mitigation and review corrective measures to ensure strategies prescribed are effective, correct, and implemented as intended.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field required or six years of experience in lieu
of education, and at least two years of experience in safety.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
