Under the direction of the Community Services Assistant Director, the Transportation Manager is responsible for day-to-day oversight of transit service activities; operations oversight; grant management; compliance with FTA and Texas Department of Transportation requirements; marketing and customer service. The Transportation Manager also serves as the DBE Program Manager and Title VI Manager. Responsible for overseeing the City's Transit system and other transportation related projects.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Principles of management, supervision, training, and employee development.
- Principles and practices related to fleet management and transit operations.
- Federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the operations of transit systems including Federal Transit funding programs.
- Techniques of planning, organizing, and coordinating transportation activities.
- Budget preparation and control.
- Contract administration.
- Data collection and summary reporting; statistics and graphics presentations.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Principles and practices of administration, supervision, and training.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Plan, organize and direct the operation and the planning for reliable public transit services.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments and agencies.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
